The Five Bells public house is a 17th century building which has recently undergone a full interior refurbishment whilst aiming to keep the traditional village pub atmosphere with an open fire and friendly, welcoming staff.
The Five Bells is situated in the delightfully peaceful village of Eastry and is surrounded by an attractive mix of period houses. There are several village shops and a post office just a few minutes walk away, as well as the beautiful church of St Mary the Blessed Virgin of which parts date back to the early 12th century.
We are located close to the historic Cinque port of Sandwich and the local golf courses - Royal St Georges, Prince’s and Royal Cinque Ports, and we are only a 20 minute drive from the port of Dover making us an ideal resting place before onward journeys to the continent.
We are on several walking and cycling routes in the area and with sites of local interest such as the castles at Dover, Deal and Walmer, and the Cathedral city of Canterbury all within a 30 minute drive, we are the perfect location for those wishing to explore the beauty of South East Kent.
There are three bed and breakfast rooms above the pub, recently refurbished all with tea and coffee facilities, television and wifi. There are two travel cots available, so if you need to book a cot, please be sure to ask beforehand.
The pub itself has two separate bars, one offering darts, pool, and a variety of live entertainment, whilst the other is a quiet space for good conversation and excellent home-cooked food served daily between 12noon and 8.30pm.
There is also a beer garden with children's play area and in the summer it is used by our Petanque team and for barbecues.
In addition, one of the hidden features is The Old Fire Station, our function room. A superb venue for family celebrations or for companies looking for somewhere to hold business meetings and conferences.
